Its hard to believe that World of Warcraft has only been around since November 2004. As a long-standing player (and yes I admit it, I am one hell of an addict) it seems like only yesterday that one felt pride in running around Ironforge or Orgrimmar showing off that first piece of Zul’Gurub gear. Back then Everquest was the game to beat with subscriptions, but with the recent announcement that WoW has reached a record high of 11.5 million worldwide subscribers one can only imagine the feeling of achievement the peeps over at Blizzard must be feeling.
After The Burning Crusade was met with mixed feelings from the player-base, Wrath of The Lich King was eagerly awaited by the masses. Selling over 2.8 million copies in the first 24 hours alone, its no surprise that this resulted in the game becoming the fastest selling of all time. Not shocking when you consider that the game holds around 62% of the MMO player market! Big congratulations over to the Blizzard people. And the credit card companies who support our habits!
