Usually when I see anything derogatory said about video games I immediately assume it’s by that grade-A attorney douchebag Jack Thompson, however, in this case he has managed to keep his mouth shut and let someone else say something stupid for once, namely, the FCC. Specifically this woman:

The woman pictured above is FCC Commissioner Deborah Tate. Deborah has been a Commissioner since 2007 and will be for a little while longer yet. She claimed in a speech about telecom policy and regulation last week that “one of the top reasons for college drop-outs in the U.S. is online gaming addiction — such as World of Warcraft — which is played by 11 million individuals worldwide.”
No longer a WoW player myself, having quit it to move onto pastures new, it still annoys me to the point where I would like to run up to her with a copy of the game and beat her around the face with it.
Nevermind the fact that she used WoW as the example, more the fact that she has blamed gaming as a whole. Now I don’t know about you but I wouldn’t say anyone has the ability or lack of common sense to choose a game as their reason for wanting to leave College or any other type of further education for that matter.
And to add more to the list of Tate’s douchebaggery, her Wikipedia page says that not only has she spoken out strongly in favor of DRM but she has also blamed television for childhood obesity. Wonderful. Maybe her and good old JT can get married and have douchebag babies.
